Anekantavada
The concept can be explained very well by a poem by John Godfrey Saxe that is based on an Indian story:It was six men of Indostan
To learning much inclined,
Who went to see the Elephant
(Though all of them were blind),
That each by observation
Might satisfy his mind
The First approached the Elephant,
And happening to fall
Against his broad and sturdy side,
At once began to bawl:
“God bless me! but the Elephant
Is very like a wall!”
The Second, feeling of the tusk,
Cried, “Ho! what have we here
So very round and smooth and sharp?
To me ’tis mighty clear
This wonder of an Elephant
Is very like a spear!”
The Third approached the animal,
And happening to take
The squirming trunk within his hands,
Thus boldly up and spake:
“I see,” quoth he, “the Elephant
Is very like a snake!”
The Fourth reached out an eager hand,
And felt about the knee.
“What most this wondrous beast is like
Is mighty plain,” quoth he;
“ ‘Tis clear enough the Elephant
Is very like a tree!”
The Fifth, who chanced to touch the ear,
Said: “E’en the blindest man
Can tell what this resembles most;
Deny the fact who can
This marvel of an Elephant
Is very like a fan!”
The Sixth no sooner had begun
About the beast to grope,
Than, seizing on the swinging tail
That fell within his scope,
“I see,” quoth he, “the Elephant
Is very like a rope!”
And so these men of Indostan
Disputed loud and long,
Each in his own opinion
Exceeding stiff and strong,
Though each was partly in the right,
And all were in the wrong!
Moral:
So oft in theologic wars,
The disputants, I ween,
Rail on in utter ignorance
Of what each other mean,
And prate about an Elephant
Not one of them has seen!
Anekantavada is a basic principle of Jainism developed by Mahavira (599-527 BC) positing that reality is perceived differently from different points of view, and that no single point of view is completely true. Jain doctrine states that only Kevalis, those who have infinite knowledge, can know the true answer, and that all others would only know a part of the answer. Anekantavada is related to the Western philosophical doctrine of Subjectivism.Anekantvada encourages its adherents to consider others views or beliefs. They should not reject a view simply because it uses a different perspective. They should consider the fact there may be truth in others' views too.

Self Composed
arz kiya haipal pal gintey din dhal jayega
teri chinta ko ye sang le jayega
koi baat ho to mujh se keh de
meri aakhon ki zabaan sun,
tera man halka ho jayega.
zindagi main woh khush naseeb hai
jinhe koi pyaar kare
teri duniya kitnee haseen hai
teri zindagi main hum jaise yaar shareek huey
teri mehfil main to gham ke kuch hi mehmaan hai
khushiyaan tere dil ke aksar kareeb hoti hai
par yahi dost e mere yaad rakhna
ki duniya main jeene ke liyey
gham ki bhi jaroorat hoti hai

Things that make me smile
1. Seeing happy faces while I ride my bike on the street2. Listening to my favorite tune come up on the radio
3. Smelling the scent of earth after the first rain
4. Hearing someone laugh peculiarly
5. Looking at babies getting confused
6. Having people around who have no clue as to whats going on
to be continued...

self composed

dream or reality
I was standing with my friend on a varandah that had unpolished wooden railings, faded and broken defending themselves against the harsh rays of the sun. Infront of the railings, was a road well illuminated with the mid-day sun's rays...so much so that the road seemed to be yellowish black or even golden..(vague).. .(abrupt pause). Now there were packages falling down the sky but they werent falling like they should have.. It was as if they were being gently lowered down by some invisible force so that they would not break into pieces..not that they were made of glass or anything...but as if they were precious enough to be saved from a sudden crash..the contents of the packages were wrapped inside whitish green leaves. The leaves were dark green but covered with a coating of cotton like fibres..(vague)...(abrupt pause) People noticed this spectacular event and started coming toward the falling packages..the people had definitely not been informed about the event..there were not many people on the road that day anyway maybe bcause of the hot sunny atmosphere. People started picking up the packages. But what was this!! As soon as they reached for the packages, the packages started opening up unvieling huge lotus flowers. The people holding these flowers started levitating magically into the air..until they reached a height which would have been equivalent to the 1st or 2nd storie of a mordern house..i was one of these people...(abrupt break)...it was then, that my friend who was standing next to me all the time disappeared ... and after some time all of us "air lifted" people started coming back to the ground with the same speed that the packages once were...this was a dream i had when i was way back in college. I usually dont remember dreams..however, i made it a point to remember this one

right or wrong
What is right and what is wrong...isnt the soul happy if the conscience is free..if the soul is free??isnt it right for the soul to be happy?if it is...well then, then why do sages advocate giving up all material pleasures?why can't one be like that fish who is always happy in the aquarium cause she doesnt know abt the sea..or the frog who thinks his small pool is the only water there is, cause he doesnt know abt the ocean.why can't we be taught ignorance is bliss..??What is the truth..and why is the truth right??who is to decide?why can't the stuff thats untrue, unreal be accepted as true for ones own frame of reference?why cant one build his small little world around him--his shel, his own universe and be rid of what lies beyond.
they say u have to prepare for the after life..and so they say u shud give up pleasures in this life.!!well, when there is not even proof that there is gonna be another life..why care about it?
i should indulge in anything that seems true in my frame of reference...thats makes my soul free of the burden of "sin" and all that makes my soul happy!
